AdVaes will be exhibiting at the Digital Sovereignty Exhibition

Emmanuelle Olivié-Paul is neither straddling two stools nor shifting AdVaes’s core focus. Sovereignty is an integral part of ESG and non-financial issues, and is reflected in the ‘G’ (Governance) of ESG. Not exclusively, of course, but the links are certainly there, more so than we realise. Whilst they may not yet be sufficiently developed, it seems essential that they be so to a far greater extent today. For example, analysing a company’s IROs (Impacts, Risks and Opportunities) enables an assessment of the risks associated with its subcontracting chain and its value chain. This analysis is a powerful tool for any company wishing to better understand its dependencies – those that may impact its autonomy, resilience, sustainability and the sovereignty of government clients or those subject to specific regulations (e.g. OIV) with whom it works.

AdVaes also integrates the topic of digital sovereignty into the broader concept of digital trust. This is a topic that Emmanuelle has been following for over 15 years. Speaking at Bercy in 2014 during the 1st Digital Trust Conferenceon the theme “Trust: a catalyst for growth in digital markets”, she concluded her keynote address by quoting Rabelais: “Science without conscience is but the ruin of the soul”. 2014–2026… or over 500 years.

Furthermore, her monitoring of cloud providers and the associated ecosystem for over 20 years has regularly led her to address issues of technological dependence, the risks of lock-in, the balance to be struck between technological innovations, matters of cybersecurity and business continuity, and the economic and business benefits (including business lines). Is this a new topic? No, and… yes at the same time, when viewed within our current economic and geopolitical context (see the fear of the “kill switch”) and the unprecedented acceleration of new generations of AI.
